Job Description: Business Development Representative
Reports To: Vice President of Sales
Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid Remote & On-Site as Needed)

Position Overview
As a Business Development Represenative (BDR) for HOUSTON FINTECH, you will play a pivotal role in expanding our lending footprint across the Greater Houston area. As an Business Development Representative (BDR), your primary responsibility is to generate qualified small business loan opportunities, build strategic referral partnerships, and guide clients through the lending process from inquiry to closing. Your efforts will directly contribute to local job creation, business growth, and financial inclusion in underserved communities.
Core Responsibilities
- Proactively build and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified small business loan applicants.
- Develop and nurture referral networks with banks, credit unions, realtors, nonprofit agencies, chambers of
commerce, and community stakeholders.
- Represent HOUSTON FINTECH at events, workshops, and forums to promote brand awareness and
generate leads.
- Promote mortgage, real estate, and small business lending solutions through outreach, presentations, and marketing activities.
- Assess client needs and provide financial guidance, including credit education and document collection.
- Prepare and submit complete loan application packages to the credit team for underwriting.
- Coordinate collateral inspections, site visits, and client communications throughout the loan process.
- Manage a personal portfolio of clients and ensure high-quality servicing and relationship management.
- Collaborate with internal teams (underwriting, processing, compliance) to enhance workflow and customer
experience.
- Maintain accurate and timely updates in the companys CRM system.
- Identify process improvements that enhance efficiency and borrower satisfaction.
- Mentor junior team members when applicable and assist with onboarding support.
- Deliver community-based financial literacy presentations.- Assist in client onboarding, loan closings, and disbursements.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial services, lending, or mortgage origination.
- Experience with asset based lending, SBA or other government-backed lending programs is highly desirable.
Skills and Competencies
- Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed sales goals in a loan or financial product setting.
- Strong knowledge of small business financing, credit analysis, and loan structuring.
- Outstanding interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Clear and effective communication skills; bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Public speaking or group facilitation experience is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot).
- Self-motivated, entrepreneurial mindset with a strong sense of accountability.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Must maintain a high degree of professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical conduct.
Compensation and Benefits
Base Salary: $50k - $75k annually + Commissions and Bonus Opportunities.
Quarterly and annual bonuses based on performance.
Benefits: Health, vision, dental, PTO after 90 days
Work Schedule and Environment
Flexible schedule, based on client meetings, events, and loan activity.
Hybrid work model: remote for administrative tasks and on-site presence required for meetings, and community outreach.
Must have reliable transportation for local travel.
Travel RequirementsFrequent travel within the Houston metro area.
Occasional overnight or out-of-state travel may be required for training or industry events.
